SG Flensburg-Handewitt celebrated a clear home win against Vojvodina Novi Sad in the Handball European League on Tuesday and has reached the knockout round early. Just like TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, which lost against Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
Flensburg beat the Serbian representative on the penultimate matchday of the main round with 42:30 (20:16) and remains the leader of Group 3 with 8:2 points. “All in all, a successful performance from us,” said Johannes Golla to NDR. “Mentally it was a difficult challenge.”
On March 5th, the SG could even afford a defeat by up to nine goals at Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in Denmark in order to move straight into the quarter-finals as group winners.
“Stretch” thanks to Nantes already through

Golla makes the decision
The Serbs, who were missing former Flensburg player Petar Djordjic, had no real chance of winning. With 31:21 (44th), SG captain Johannes Golla made the decision. Hannover was too harmless throughout the game to endanger Mannheim’s victory. The best throwers of the game were Jonathan Edvardsson and Marius Steinhauser with five goals each for Hannover and Tobias Reichmann and Kirkelökke with nine goals each for the Lions.
