Launch pad & Milky Way: LEGO presents new space sets

Set number 1 is this LEGO Icons NASA Artemis Startramp. The construction consists of a launch system, a multi-stage rocket with two solid boosters and a mobile launch tower with retractable umbilical cables, rocket support and crew bridge.

The detailed replica also includes a model of the Orion spacecraft, powered by the European Space Agency’s European Service Module, with fold-out solar panels that can be placed inside the rocket or on a separate stand.

A total of 3,601 individual parts are installed. This costs 259.99 euros. When assembled, the set is 70 cm high, 27 cm wide and 30 cm deep. Unsurprisingly, LEGO is advertising the whole thing as a set for adults. It is not intended for gaming. The official release is on May 18, 2024. However, LEGO insiders can get their hands on it three days earlier.

The Artemis campaign explores the Moon to make scientific discoveries, advance technological advances and learn how to live and work on another world as NASA prepares for human missions to Mars.

The second set is the Milky Way Galaxy. The name pretty much tells you what it’s about. At its core, it is a colorful image of the galaxy, reduced to a total of 3,091 terminal blocks. At the end, five individual panels can be put together to form a large painting, with each panel coming with its own instructions. This means that the construction can be easily assembled by several people.

A 3D effect should bring the necessary depth to the image. Depicted are some of the Milky Way’s most famous stars, star clusters and other spectacles. These include Trappist-1, the Pleiades, the Crab Nebula and the Pillars of Creation.

After construction, the large Milky Way galaxy can be hung on the wall using the hanging elements. The dimensions are 40 cm x 65 cm x 5 cm. The official release is also scheduled for May 18, 2024. LEGO insiders can also buy this set three days in advance. The price is 199.99 euros. Until then you can bridge the waiting time at ALTERNATE. You will also find a large selection of LEGO there.
