Luckily for the black and yellow: the Bundesliga is not the same as the Champions League. Things went really well there in the awesome group with Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Newcastle United. Although the first encounter with the French was lost (0-2), they were finally able to prevail in Group F – as first in the table. A total of three wins and two draws with only one defeat meant a safe place in the round of 16. They were able to avoid big opponents like Real Madrid, Manchester City and FC Barcelona.

Borussia didn’t really gain any confidence last weekend in the Bundesliga for today’s Champions League appearance. Despite an early and long-lasting lead, the weakening VfL Wolfsburg only managed a draw (1:1). In the championship, the sometimes average performances are currently only enough for fourth place – not enough given the ailing Bayern, who otherwise had to defend the championship title against BVB. Since RB Leipzig is only one point away in fifth place, the Westphalians have to focus more on making it into the premier class on their own and keeping the Saxons at a distance.

The home team formed a four-man defensive line in front of goalkeeper Benítez consisting of ex-Munich player Dest, Boscagli, Schouten and Teze. Saibari, Veerman and Tillmann make up the three-man midfield. Lozano and Bakayoko rotate on the left and right wing, while de Jong is the target player in the center.
