Felix Gall was only beaten by Olympic champion Richard Carapaz when he returned from a high-altitude training camp. The East Tyrolean in the service of the AGR2 racing team was twelve seconds behind the Ecuadorian winner from the EF team in the Classic Alpes-Maritimes one-day race (169 km) from Puget-Theniers to the mountain finish at the Col de Valberg.
