Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss Wednesday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics with a left hamstring injury, it was announced today. The two-time MVP was not with the team at shootaround and did not travel to Boston, but is expected to rejoin the team in Milwaukee on Thursday for their game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Antetokounmpo has been having a standout season, averaging 30.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and a career-high 61.6% field goal percentage. This will be the second consecutive game he will miss due to the injury and only the fifth game missed this season.
Despite his absence, the Bucks have managed to secure wins without Antetokounmpo in the lineup, winning three out of four games. Damian Lillard has stepped up in his absence, averaging 31.5 points in games without Antetokounmpo compared to 23.9 points when he plays.
The Bucks currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference standings, but are 10 games behind the Celtics. Stay tuned for more updates on Antetokounmpo’s recovery and the team’s upcoming games.
