Rome, May 2, 2022 – It’s May. It is the month of Tour of Italy. Everything is ready from Budapest for the start of the 2022 pink race which will unfold from Hungary to Verona after 3445 kilometers and 50,000 meters in altitude. It starts on Friday 6 May from the Hungarian capital to arrive in Verona on Sunday 29 May. The average length of each stage is 164 kilometers and as always there will be a great show in the Alps in the decisive stages for the race, while in the south there will be Abruzzo, Molise, Campania, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily. The first stop in Italy after Hungary will be the one that will arrive at Etna on 10 May. From there we will go up to the north.
Notable participants
The lot of participants presents great uncertainty about the possible winners. The favorite seems to be Richard carapaz of the Ineos, second arrow of the Richie team Portebut also pay attention to Joao Almeida of UAE and Simon Yates of the Bike Exchange as men from the podium. Other protagonists could be Hugh Carty of the Ef, Romain Bardet della Dsm, Alejandro Valverde of Movistar, Wilco Keldermann e Jai Hindley Della Bora, Mikel Landa of Bahrain, Miguel Angel Lopez dell’Astana and Guillaume Martin of Cofidis. It’s not over, because Tom will be back Dumoulin with the jacket of the Jumbo Visma even if the unknowns about his condition are many. Mathieu, on the other hand, will offer a great show vanderpoel, at his first participation in the Giro, especially in the stages closest to the Northern classics. In Italy there will be no Damiano Carusoon the podium last year, while Vincenzo will be at the start Nibali who will lead a patrol with some interesting climbers like Lorenzo Fortunato and Giulio Ciccone, but for the general classification it will be tough. In the race also the eternal Domenico Pozzovivo.
