In search of refreshment from the sultry days, but also of an entertainment of absolute quality, we will be able to take advantage of an exceptional event: the return to the cinema of some of the masterpieces of Hayao Miyazaki, master of animated cinema. Studio Ghibli and Lucky Red have announced that ‘The enchanted city’ (1-6 July), ‘Princess Mononoke’ (14-20 July), ‘Nausicaa della valle del vento’ will be distributed again from 1 July to 17 August. (25-31 July), ‘Porco Rosso’ (1-7 August) and ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ (11-17 August). A unique opportunity to (re) see on the big screen titles that have made the history of contemporary cinema and that represent an essential model for many professionals, who have often greeted Miyazaki as a filmmaker of enormous value. THE ENCHANTED CITY (2001) The story is that of a little girl who enters an enchanted world with her parents, designed to look after the spirits of nature: her parents are lost through greed and she will have to understand how to get by and how to save dad and mom. When ‘The enchanted city’ won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival 2002, and even more so after the Oscar for best animated film, the name of Miyazaki came out of a small niche of Western admirers and is arrived at the general public. Thanks to ‘The enchanted city’ the previous films have been adapted and released in Italy, and the following ones have had a distribution worthy of the name. PRINCESS MONONOKE (1997) An ecological fantasy before ecology became fashionable, ‘Princess Mononoke’ tells the adventures of a young man who finds himself in the midst of the struggle between the gods of the forest and humans who intend to consume natural resources. The unique connection between these two worlds is represented by a girl who was raised by the wolf goddess. …
