The new Italian Under 15 precision shooting champion is Pontalpino. His name is Ilario De Francesch, he was born in 2006 and plays with the colors of Saranese, the Treviso-based bowling club that boasts a thriving youth sector.

The Italian youth titles in progressive shooting and precision shooting were awarded in Savona, in the tricolor event hosted by the local bowling club. Among the Under 18s, Matteo Golfetto (Bassa Valle Helvetia) took home both records. Among the Under 15s, Diego Verganti della Perosina was the best in the progressive while, in the precision shooting, it was precisely Ilario De Francesch who imposed himself. In the decisive match, the Belluno prevailed against Macario della Borgonese.

“I started playing thanks to my grandfather, Franco Renna”, says Ilario, who lives in Arsié di Ponte in the Alps and attends the ITI in Feltre, “by going to see, at my mother’s suggestion, the games he played in the bowling green close to home. He asked me if I liked this sport and I said yes. So he took me to try and I immediately started at Saranese which, of the companies that carry out activities at a youth level, is the closest. I have been training with them for five years and have always found myself very well. On the contrary, I really have to thank them for what they have done for me ».

Ilario De Francesch had first level teachers.

“Paolino Brisotto taught me to play, then Egidio Dal Ben, Claudio Porello and currently Gino Casagrande, Dario Campana and Moreno Vettori”.

Did you expect a result similar to the Italian championships?

“I wasn’t expecting it, but I was hoping for it. Since school ended in June, I have trained every day, both up here in the fields near my home, and down there in the Saranese. I worked hard to prepare for this competition in which I actually hoped to do well. But it was still a national competition, so nothing was taken for granted. I am happy with the result ».

It was not the first time ever that the young Pontalpine bowler took part in a national demonstration.

«Two years ago I participated in an Italian team championship, while two years ago it was the first time in an individual discipline, in which the results therefore depend entirely on your performance. But last Sunday was undoubtedly the best moment ».

The congratulations of the federal president Marco Giunio De Sanctis to the winners.

«For two days», says the Federbocce number one, «the finalists of the Savona event had to keep their concentration high, managing themselves physically. The races are our spectacular tests, which also highlight the sporting aspect of our discipline for that appeal necessary for the youngest ».
