GOL

Al 71′ INTER-Atalanta: 4-0. Inter still moving forward, Davide Frattesi’s signature! From the developments of the set piece, Sanchez effectively picks out Frattesi who finishes on goal behind Carnesecchi. Poker served by the home team, assisted by Sanchez.

Al 54′ INTER-Atalanta: 3-0. Biscione extends the distance again, it does so with Federico Dimarco! Carnesecchi hypnotizes Lautaro from the spot, rejects but creates a rebound in favor of Dimarco on which the winger swoops in with timing, sealing the 3-0 with a strong left foot.

Al 45’+1 INTER-Atalanta: 2-0. Goal by Lautaro Martinez. The Nerazzurri double their lead in the 46th minute, signed by captain Lautaro! Action that starts from the feet of Pavard, who, having reached the edge of the opponent’s area, unloads the ball for the number 10, then oriented control and conclusion with the weak foot with a high technical level: ball close to the post, Carnesecchi can’t do anything. Assist served by Pavard.

Al 26′ INTER-Atalanta 1-0 Goal at Darmian. Lautaro’s very calibrated low shot through Mkhitaryan, Carnesecchi comes out vehemently but the Armenian touches the ball just enough, the ball then reaches Darmian who opens the pitch and gives his team the lead. Nerazzurri ahead, assist from Mkhitaryan.

CLASSIFICATION

Soccer: Serie A; Inter-Atalanta

Inter are flying towards the Scudetto. Not even Atalanta manages to stop the ride of Simone Inzaghi’s men: at San Siro in injury time on the twenty-first matchday it ends with a clear 4-0, thanks to goals from Darmian, Lautaro, Dimarco and Frattesi. Four goals for three points which allow Inter to fly to +12 in the standings over Juventus, with twelve matches remaining: the mathematical certainty of the second star is missing 25 points for the Nerazzurri, but they will probably need fewer. A war machine, the one created by Inzaghi, and the numbers are perhaps not even enough to describe how Inter are killing this championship. Eleven victories in a row at the start of 2024fourth match in a row with four goals scored in Serie A (67 goals scored in total, record among the top tournaments in Europe) but also the seventeenth in the league without conceding a goal, with a record goal difference of +55, in addition to having scored 69 points in 26 days, never so many in Inter history after 26 rounds.

Total domination, with Lautaro (with goal number 24 in the championship, continuing Higuain’s and Immobile’s run at 36) and his teammates who are now starting to glimpse the finish line banner on the horizon. And to say that Gasperini’s Bergamo players made Inter tremble quite a bit, especially at the start. Because Atalanta struck at the first opportunity, taking advantage of Pavard and Asllani’s indecision thanks to a left-footed shot from De Ketelaere who resolved a melee in the area after contact between Bastoni and Miranchuk. However, it was VAR that put a damper on the joy of Gasperini’s team, canceling out the guest’s advantage due to a touch from Miranchuk himself amid protests from the bench. Inter struggled to find the usual combinations, especially thanks to Bergamo’s strong all-round pressing. To thus upset Gasperini’s tactical idea, Inzaghi’s players begin to exchange positions and it is no coincidence that Bastoni disguises himself as a finisher twice, first for Barella (who scores but starting from an irregular position) and then for Lautaro, who kicks high with the right. The Nerazzurri found space and confidence, raising the pressure and the engine speed.

And in fact the opening goal arrives: Lautaro finds the hole for Mkhtaryan, Carnesecchi saves on the way out but leaves the ball because it is at the edge of the area and Darmian takes advantage of it, who passes it into an empty net. Darmian himself wasted the second goal immediately after, then Lautaro hit the crossbar but at the end of the first half he made it 2-0 with a sharp left-footed shot from the edge. The episode that ends the match comes at the beginning of the second half, when from Asllani’s corner the ball seems to go out, but Dumfries continues and on his new cross Hateboer touches the ball with his arm. A very long review is needed (almost six minutes) to award the penalty to Inter: from the spot Carnesecchi hypnotizes Lautaro, but from the rebound Dimarco scores the 3-0. The cold goal definitively shuts down Atalanta and the rest of the match turns into little more than training for Inzaghi’s team, with the icing on the cake of Frattesi’s header (who gets injured at the moment of the goal, adductor contracture right foot to be evaluated) for the final 4-0. The finale runs away among the olè of the 71 thousand of San Siro, who at the end of the match celebrate with the chorus of “the league leaders are leaving”: the second star is ever closer.
