“Jonathan Orozco Retires from Professional Soccer and Rayados Pays Tribute”
Former soccer player Jonathan Orozco bid farewell to his career at a tribute paid by Rayados at the BBVA Stadium prior to their match against Toluca for Matchday 7 of Clausura 2024 of the Liga MX. The goalkeeper ended his career with the team that saw him rise in the sport.
Known as “Spider,” Orozco entered the field with his family and former teammates to celebrate his retirement. Former Rayados directors and soccer players attended the tribute as well, including Jorge Urdiales, Luis Miguel Salvador, Walter Ayoví, Jared Borgetti, Ricardo Osorio, Jesús Zavala, Juan de Dios Ibarra, and William Paredes.
The royal board presented Orozco with recognition on the field and a tifo was displayed in the stands with images of the former goalkeeper. Emotional at the farewell, Orozco expressed his gratitude to the fans and Monterrey, with tears as he spoke.
Orozco debuted in 2005 with Rayados and remained with the team until 2016, becoming a true legend. He later played for Santos Laguna and Tijuana before retiring due to injury. During his time with Rayados, Orozco was a key player in their three Concachampions victories and two Liga MX titles.
The retirement of Jonathan Orozco marks the end of an era in Mexican soccer and the close of a successful career for the beloved goalkeeper.
