I will never forget this moment: In April 2012, when I was preparing for the London Olympics, I received a notice from the national weightlifting team’s party branch to join the party. What a glorious and sacred moment, I have been looking forward to it for a long time!

The Chinese weightlifting team has always had the tradition of “joining the party on the line of fire” before the Olympics. Carrying the mission of fighting for the gold medal for the Chinese sports delegation in the Olympic Games, this “gold medalist” has never retreated, and is bound to rush forward. The team members who get the chance to join the party before each Olympic Games are honored, and at the same time know that the responsibility is great, because this is a kind of mission transmission and a kind of belief inheritance.

It was the “FireWire joining the Party” that inspired my fighting spirit and inspired my fighting spirit. I stood on the highest podium in the London Olympics. Becoming an Olympic champion can be described as the highest hall of honor in international sports. I also achieved my goal of a gold medal grand slam in weightlifting career. As a member of the Communist Party of China, I always remember and appreciate the cultivation of the motherland and the party. “Get off the podium and start from scratch.” I embarked on a new journey of struggle.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, I had the same performance as my opponent, but I finished runner-up due to my weight disadvantage. After winning the 2017 National Games, I was 33 years old. Many people think that I have won all the gold medals I should have. I have no regrets in my weightlifting career and I can retire. But I still choose to continue to challenge myself and challenge the limit. More importantly, I have a heartfelt love for weightlifting. Every day in the national weightlifting team, I enjoy training and the sense of accomplishment that challenges my physical abilities and the limits of human strength.

As an old party member, I have always kept my mission in mind and forged ahead in recent years. At this age, my recovery speed is not as fast as that of young players, so I spend more time on physical training and rehabilitation, and the training programs are more refined, detailed and scientific. Continuously breaking the world record and winning the World Championships in 2018 and 2019 has strengthened my belief in struggle. Fighting with young teammates on the training ground every day makes me feel that I am still young.

Unconsciously, the five-year preparation time for the Tokyo Olympics cycle is coming to an end. Today, I have become the oldest member of the national weightlifting team. After winning the Asian Championships and the gold medal in the domestic Olympic trials in April this year, I took a solid step to achieve the “small goal” of standing in the Tokyo Olympics at the age of 37. Soon, I will embark on the journey as a competitor of the Chinese sports delegation of this Olympic Games. The mission is on our shoulders, and I am struggling! As I walked into the Tokyo Olympics, I will definitely fight for the country and fight for the country, and I will strive for the gold medal!
