Until Sunday 17 the strongest surfers in the world competing
ORISTANO. After the two days dedicated to the Wing & Paddle Festival and the Green Village of the Open Water Challenge, everything is ready in Torre Grande for the stage of the kiteboarding world championship. From today 11 until Sunday 17 October the waters of the Gulf of Oristano will host the kites of the strongest athletes in the world that spectators can freely admire from the beach. The Formula Kite World Championship is an event of great international importance for sport because it used for the first time the format that athletes will have to follow during the 2024 Paris Olympics. The maximum number of athletes who can register today is 180 between men and women and the sold out is not so far from expectations.
Free practice is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday 12 October; at 6 pm the opening ceremony. From Wednesday to Sunday at 10 the Rider’s meeting and at 11 the start of the Formula Kite World Championship, with the qualifying phases. The finals will be held on Sunday 17 October at 11 am, with the awards ceremony at 4 pm and the closing ceremony will follow. «These first two days have been fantastic – says satisfied Eddy Piana, organizer of the event – great participation by amateurs in the competitions of the Wing & Paddle Festival, the weather was on our side with favorable weather conditions, if not excellent.
