Having archived the two long races on Saturday of 50 and 24 km, won respectively by Mattia Gianola, Eva Maria Sperger and Marco Ghelfi, Daniela Rota, this morning 234 of them set off from the long lake in the shorter, but no less spectacular race.

Numbers in hand, the third edition of the beautiful running event designed on the border mountains between Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige registered 826 participants from 29 nations; in detail 209 on the 50 km, 383 on the 24 and 234 on the short 16. Of these, 25% are women and 13% foreigners. Important numbers for an increasingly international race and with a significant growth trend of +200 athletes compared to the previous edition.

THE 16KM:

the “Short” test had a distance of 16 kilometers with 1185 m d+. The athletes climbed up to a maximum altitude of 700 meters and passed near the middle station of the Monte Baldo cable car before diving headlong towards the finish line in Malcesine. In the men’s race there was a tussle until Luca Bertoldo from Vicenza took the lead and held the lead until the finish line. Success of the day for him in 1h30’21”. Second place for Kevin Maniotti (1h31’04”) and third for the Spaniard Juan Sebastian Cortes (1h34’06”).

In the women’s solo, Lena Zingerle from South Tyrol crossed the finish line in 1h50’24”, placing Sara Casari (1h54’40”) and Ioana Lucaci (1h55’13”) in line.

FOR VRM TEAM ASD TIME TO TAKE ACCOUNTS AND NEW OBJECTIVES:

«The balance is certainly positive – declared Claudio Arduini -, but we are aware that we still have important margins for growth. We close this third edition with a +30% of subscribers which gives us hope. The number of women has increased, the number of foreigners has grown enormously, accounting for almost 15% of the total. This is also thanks to a beautiful location and the organizational passion we put into it. The goal is to reach triple figures as soon as possible.”

The organizing committee also expressed several thanks: «The first thanks goes to the municipal administration of Malcesine, in particular to Christian Chincarini who had the intuition to involve us in the organization of this race four years ago. Heartfelt thanks also to the administration of Brentonico and Avio who spent so much on the Trentino side of the race to put together groups of volunteers who gave us a great hand. I wouldn’t forget ASICS, having such a prestigious brand as main sponsor is a source of pride and satisfaction for us. Last and most important thanks to everyone who worked behind the scenes; they are the beating heart of this event. Now let’s enjoy the success of this third edition, renewing the appointment for the fourth from now on. Keep yourselves free for the first weekend of May 2025. We look forward to seeing many of you in Malcesine from 3 to 4 May.”
