On the morning of July 15, 1997 Versace came murdered with two gunshots on the steps of his home in Miami Beach. The first to help him were his companion, Antonio D’Amico, and his friend Lazaro Quintana. He was transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami and shortly thereafter pronounced dead.
Of the murder Andrew Cunanan, a drug addict, was charged, addicted to homosexual prostitution, suspected of having previously murdered other people, and for this reason he has been wanted for some time. Andrew Cunanan could not be questioned, nor was a trial instituted against him, because he was found dead a few days later on a houseboat in a bay.
