Marc Marquez will not race the Indonesian GP, the second MotoGP race of the season scheduled for this morning. The official Honda Spaniard was declared “unfit” after suffering a head injury following a bad fall during the warm up. The eight-time world champion was taken to the hospital for check-ups and then didn’t get the doctors’ green light for the race.
Marquez crashed at Turn 7 after losing control of the rear of his bike at around 180km / h. He got up by himself, but he looked very stunned. He was then flown by helicopter to a hospital on the island of Lombok, where the circuit is located, for further examination. “It was a big accident, a major concussion, so with this type of accident it takes time to recover – explained Alberto Puig, Honda sporting director – We will see the evolution in the next 24 hours”, he continued, explaining that the pilot has nothing broken but that one had to be “very careful when you have a blow to the head”. Meanwhile, the start of the Indonesian MotoGP Grand Prix, scheduled for 8 am in Italy, has been delayed due to rain and the race will only cover 20 laps, instead of the 27 scheduled.
