Spanish tennis star Nadal announced on the 17th that he will not participate in this year’s Wimbledon and the Tokyo Olympics.
Nadal posted on social media that day that he decided not to participate in the Wimbledon Open from June 28 to July 11 this year, nor will he participate in the tennis matches of the Tokyo Olympics.
Nadal said that the purpose of this is to prevent excessive physical wear, prolong sports career, and ensure that he can “continue to compete in the highest level of competition” in the medium and long term.
This will be the fourth time in his career that Nadal has given up Wimbledon. He previously missed the Grand Slam tournament in London in 2004, 2009 and 2016. In addition, in 2012, the leading Spanish tennis player also withdrew from the London Olympics due to physical problems.
