National Golf Championship Concludes with Zhejiang Team Taking Top Honors

The highly anticipated National Golf Championship wrapped up at the prestigious Poly Chongqing Golf Club on March 31st, with the Zhejiang team emerging victorious in both the men’s and women’s team categories. Xiao Bowen of the Beijing team and Zeng Yu of the Shanghai team also clinched the individual titles, cementing their positions as the top golfers in the country.

The China Sports Lottery 2024 “National Taiwan Cup” Poly Cultural Tourism Golf Championship, organized by the China Golf Association and Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, is regarded as one of the premier golf events in China. The competition featured a challenging “individual + team” stroke play format, with athletes from 21 provinces and 43 teams vying for the coveted titles over four days of intense play.

In a thrilling final round, the Zhejiang team showcased their skill and determination, securing the men’s team championship with 824 strokes (-28) and the women’s team title with a score of 833 (-31). Xiao Bowen and Zeng Yu delivered exceptional performances in the individual events, finishing with impressive scores of 266 (-18) and 266 (-22) respectively.

Wei Qingfeng, the secretary-general of the China Golf Association, praised the level of competition at this year’s championship, emphasizing the balanced development of golf across the country. He remarked, “The National Championship plays a crucial role in our competition system, and the fierce battles we witnessed from provincial and municipal teams to school-enterprise alliances highlight the growing popularity and accessibility of golf in China.”
