The NBA was born 75 years ago, on November 1, 1946. It was called Baa, Basketball Association of America because there was another league, the NBL, National Basketball League, much more important, founded in 1937-38. The merger of the two leagues three years later gave birth to the National Basketball Association, the NBA.
