Rome, 16 Nov. – Beyond a ton of cocaine was seized during the investigations that led to a maxi anti operation ‘ndrangheta of the State Police, which ended with the execution of over 100 precautionary measures all over Italy. The drug was imported from South America.
The mobile teams of Reggio Calabria, Milan, Florence and Livorno, with the coordination of the central operational service of the Central Crime Directorate, have carried out over 100 precautionary measures issued by the district anti-mafia prosecutors of Reggio Calabria, Milan and Florence, at the conclusion of detailed investigations that involved members of the ‘Ndrangheta operating in close connection with each other in different regions.
The operation involved subjects of Calabrian origin coming from the Plain of Gioia Tauro, presumed to belong to the Molé clan, also active in Lombardy and Tuscany, and with international ramifications. The crimes disputed in various capacities are mafia association, external competition in mafia association, extortion, illegal possession and carrying of weapons, self-laundering, criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, production, trafficking and transfer of drugs, usury, fraudulent bankruptcy, tax fraud and corruption.
The Milanese line of investigations was conducted by the State Police in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Como Finance Police.
