Davide Nicelli’s moment of grace continues. Fresh from the excellent home performance of the 4Regioni Rally, the strong stradellino driver last weekend returned to compete in the Italian Championship, where he currently leads the R2 category standings and, at the same time, also the Reault Clio Trophy. Theater of “hostilities”, this time, was the home of Prosecco, the Conegliano Veneto area, where the Rally della Marca was staged. An extremely exciting two days for the Pavia rally driver, sailed as usual by Tiziano Pieri from Biella.
At the end of the 380 kilometers of the race, the two were able to celebrate an excellent 20th place overall, conquered by starting far behind in the race order and preceding several crews in the race with more performing cars. Above all, however, Nicelli and Pieri were able to celebrate their double victory, both in the R1 category and in the Renault Clio Trophy: a fundamental result from the point of view of the two championships. «It was really difficult to win in front of Zanin, our direct rival both in the league and in the Trophy – declared Nicelli – he proved once again very fast, probably also thanks to the drive due to playing at home and for this reason this is why the result obtained gives us even more satisfaction and pride – he continued – I am very sorry for his retirement in the final, certainly it would have been better to play it in seconds or tenths like Alba, but we all know that this is also part of racing ».
For Nicelli and Pieri, who arrived at the start with an already quite reassuring margin in the championship standings, the result achieved in Veneto allows us to stretch further and, while maintaining high attention and concentration, to look forward to the second part of the season with confidence: “Now we enjoy this other victory – Nicelli said, relieved – it is an extraordinary moment for us, made up of only successes, but we must continue to work with our heads down because the road is still long and very difficult ».
Cautious optimism, therefore, always keeping an eye on the next race. –
