Nicelli prepares the challenge of the junior flag The debut in Sanremo

Among the numerous confirmations for the Italian Rally championship was also that of Davide Nicelli Jr: the talented stradellino driver will once again be at the start, more precisely in the Italian junior series, for years a springboard for young talents who aspire to get in light. Six races are scheduled, four on asphalt and two on dirt: starting on 10 April, with the Sanremo Rally and closing on 10 October at the 2Valli Rally.

Nicelli will face this new experience alongside the reliable Biella-born Tiziano Pieri and the car used will still be the Renault Clio rally 5, followed however for the six rounds by Motorsport Italia, a team selected by Aci to manage the young Italian drivers supported by Aci Team Italy. “I am very happy with the program – comments Nicelli warmly – I had many proposals and also the opportunity to participate in the European championship or in the French, but then I chose to stay in Italy”. The Federation’s interest is a great recognition: «I immediately accepted their proposal because I believe it was the best and I think that being one of the young Italian drivers chosen by the federation and by Aci Team Italia is a source of pride». In 2021 the Italian title faded by a whisker, what do you expect this year? «I am confident, compared to 2021 almost everything remains unchanged; in addition, together with the Gima team, I will do some extra races that will allow me to improve the feeling with my Clio, then I hope during the year to be able to get back on a rally 4 or rally 2 ». «The objectives will be mainly two – concludes Ñicelli – to continue to learn, improve and grow, then be found at the top on every occasion; the excellent results of 2021 must be archived because a new chapter begins, the opponents will be competitive and no one will give us anything ».
