Óscar Ramírez Refuses Invitation to Join National Team Technical Commission
After leading the Costa Rica team in the 2018 World Cup, coach Óscar Ramírez has made it clear that he has no intention of joining the National Team’s Technical Commission in response to an invitation from Jafet Soto, a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation.
Soto, who is also the president of Herediano, announced that he would invite Ramírez to evaluate the work of Claudio Vivas and help Gustavo Alfaro in preparation for the playoffs to attend the Copa América and the World Cup qualifying towards 2026. However, it appears that convincing Ramírez is “mission impossible,” as the former Alajuelense coach is content with his current life and not interested in returning to football.
Ramírez, who has been away from football for almost six years, is focused on his personal and business life. Despite offers from national clubs, he has chosen to remain out of the spotlight and maintain a quiet life, away from the media.
It seems that Ramírez’s decision not to join the Technical Commission is rooted in his dedication to his quiet life in Hojancha, Guanacaste, where he is focused on his farm. He has shown no interest in getting involved in the complexities of the football world. As a result, Soto will have to look for other individuals to join the Technical Commission as Ramírez remains steadfast in his decision to stay away from the position.
