Pordenone is forty but not enough for salvation

The number of players used is impressive: Anastasio is the last of the series. Revolving doors mean somewhat confused ideas but also a desire for redemption

PORDENONE. With Armando Anastasio entering the field in last Tuesday’s match against the Cittadella, the number of players used by Pordenone during this season has risen to 40. No club in Serie B, currently, has made use of a greater number of players.

In absolute terms, however, this is a truly remarkable figure, even higher than that recorded in 2014-2015, when the team was unable to keep its place in Serie C. At the time, 38 players wore the jersey of the lizards, two fewer than the current tournament.

Having reached 40 is nothing more than the combined effect of the many professionals already on contract since last summer and the maneuvers completed in the winter market, when 11 new players arrived at De Marchi. Among these all had made their debut: only Anastasio was missing, who arrived in the final part of the negotiations and until the match with the Citadel remained on the bench. With the Venetians he played from 1 ‘in place of Perri and thus brought the number of players who took to the field with the Pordenone shirt to 40.

A record, which means on the one hand the investments made by the owners to try to stay in Serie B but also how the ideas have changed over the months by the management. In fact, there are 16 players left since the beginning of the season, the others have alternated.

One was used during the first two league games and was then loaned to Catania during the last hours of the summer market: it is Kevin Biondi, taken from Etna in January 2021.

Among the elements that have been most used are the pillars of this formation, namely Samuele Perisan and Nicolò Cambiaghi. The goalkeeper has played in all the matches, thus accumulating 2160 ‘. Linked to the club with a contract up to 2.024, he will be one of the players on which the club aims to record an interesting capital gain at the end of the season: the fate of the number one from San Vito al Tagliamento is Serie A.

Cambiaghi played 1.664 ‘, becoming immovable over time and revealing himself to be a forward destined to play in other stages. Behind them, in the top 5, three players sold in the January transfer market: Camporese (1519 ‘), Magnino (1325’) and Folorunsho (1299 ‘), who moved respectively to Cosenza, Modena in Serie C and Reggina. Only sixth and seventh Pasa and Zammarini, in the field for 1195 ‘and 1085’, became important in particular in the last management, that of Bruno Tedino.

In addition to this record number, then, the three coaches who have alternated on the bench with their staff must also be considered. As for the players, Pordenone had some good intentions, Cambiaghi above all, but with such a high number of players appearing in the pitch, however, they proved to have been confusing. Even so we can explain the last place in the standings, occupied since last Tuesday alone following the draw of Vicenza in Pisa. It is not over yet, however, because tomorrow we will play in Reggio Calabria.
