Atlético de Madrid coach Diego Pablo Simeone spoke to the media at the end of the Real Madrid – Atlético de La Liga 2023/24 match at the Santiago Bernabéu this Sunday. The mattress coach did not seem particularly satisfied with the result even though he admitted it was fair.
The mattress coach commented that “The point doesn’t mean anything to me, but it’s a deserved draw. It is a point that came at the end, but that could have come sooner because we had several opportunities to achieve it. “I think it was a weak game for both teams.”
The Argentine coach of Atlético once again assessed that in his opinion “For me it was a strange game. We had scoring chances at the beginning, but they scored the first time, although the chances were ours and they were playing better. Then in the second the game stretched… It was not, even close, like the last vibrant games we played“. Although he did not seem to be happy with the draw, he did add that “drawing away from home is never bad.” And he highlighted that “it is a point that we seek until the end and that is why we get a well-deserved draw.”
Simeone also had to give his opinion on the controversial plays. Regarding the goal disallowed due to a possible foul by Saúl, Cholo considered: “They say the disallowed goal is fair because Saúl was in front of the goalkeeper.”
