Rizza, technical tests in the new specialty 5th place in Milan brings him the blue

PAVIA

Another step forward on the road that leads to the Olympic dream of Paris 2024. This is the summary of the weekend that saw Manfredi Rizza compete in the international competition in Milan, valid as the second selection test for the composition of the national team that will face the international season starting from the two World Cup races scheduled in a few weeks in the Czech Republic and, subsequently, in Poland. With a solid fifth place in the K1 500 meters race, the Pavia champion has earned the right to wear the blue jersey at the next international events where he will probably find a place on the K4 500 meters. Forced to abandon the 200 meters, which in Tokyo brought him to the second step of the Olympic podium and which will disappear from the program from the Paris Games, Rizza measured himself again on the longest distance showing significant improvements that earned him confirmation in blue. A confirmation not taken for granted in a year which for Rizza represents a real sporting revolution.

Mathilde Rosa (Cus Pavia) will also find the blue who, thanks to two important placings, has once again confirmed herself among the stars of the women’s canoe. Having gone into the water in Milan representing the Under 23 national team, Matteo Bazzano (Canottieri Ticino) and Elena Ricchiero (Cus Pavia) will now have to wait for the category selection test, who at the Idroscalo respectively closed with two medals each. Bazzano ranked third in both the beautiful K1 200 meters race and the K4 500 meters race, while Ricchiero found silver in the K4 race and bronze in the K2 race. In a review characterized by the presence of Ukrainian athletes, who wanted to send a message of peace from Milan, the medal of the very young Rebecca Barbieri, second classified in the K1 200 meters race in the Girls category, embellished the Cus bulletin board. Barbieri was then followed by an interesting sixth place in the Junior race. –
