Ronald Araujo Responds to Criticism from İlkay Gündogan Following Red Card in Champions League Quarterfinals
Barcelona, Spain – Ronald Araujo, a defender for Barcelona, did not hold back in his response to criticism from German footballer İlkay Gündogan regarding the decision that led to his red card in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League 2023/24 against Paris Saint-Germain.
After the match, Gündogan had suggested that Araujo had made a mistake in his actions that resulted in the red card, stating that it would have been better for the opponent to score a goal rather than leaving the team with one less player.

We have to place ourselves in the League and we are going to give everything,” Araujo said.
Regarding his contractual renewal with Barcelona, Araujo expressed satisfaction with the ongoing negotiations. “There are talks of many proposals, but I am very happy here,” he said. “I always give everything and I want to help the team grow and be the same Barça as always.”
As Barcelona continues to chase Real Madrid in the La Liga standings, Araujo remains optimistic about the team’s future, predicting success for the young squad. “We have a nice group with many young people who are going to win many Champions Leagues,” the 25-year-old concluded.
