The seven-time world champion was already in the lead 8-1 after the first session on Wednesday evening and it was already clear that the final victory would only be a matter of time.
O’Sullivan is on the hunt for an eighth world title in Sheffield, with seven he currently shares the record with Stephen Hendry. Together with Judd Trump, he is the top favorite. Many top players, such as defending champion Luca Brecel, Ding Junhui, and former world champions Mark Selby and Mark Williams, did not survive the first round.
