A derby between Alpago and Belluno
The two teams will alternate both as shirts and as a playing field
Ithe collaboration between Alpago and Belluno starts under the best auspices. In the Belluno rugby scene, where an alliance assumes a strategic character for the growth of the movement, it was inevitable that two local realities would come to conclude agreements. At present, the collaboration concerns the youth sector (Under 19 and Under 15), with a long-term perspective. The details of the operation are soon explained by the yellow-green sporting director Giovanni Calvi.
«It all started with the Under 19, as Belluno had a problem with numbers. We too were a bit restricted with the squad, without being sure of having a good number of reserves. The federation gave the possibility to create a sort of “tutoring” project. That is to say that a club that has at least fifteen players registered in that category can tutor another club that has problems regarding the number of players. In this context, we will be tutors at Belluno ».
Calvi then enters the practical context.
«The two clubs collaborate effectively at 50%: there will be a coach and a companion from Alpago and the same number from Belluno. The boys will train one week in Puos and another in Villa Montalban, so that no club is penalized. The team is registered as Rugby Alpago, but in reality going forward the shirts of the two teams will be worn alternately and the official matches will be played both in Alpago and in Belluno, so that everything is homogeneous. The main purpose is to let all the athletes play ».
The players, with the “tutoring” system, remain in any case registered with their own clubs and each of them will be able to draw on the group of its nursery in case of needs regarding their first teams.
Cooperation with the under 15 has a different outline.
«In this case the federation does not give the option of tutoring. This team will be labeled “Belluno”: the Alpago players will be loaned to Belluno and here too there will be the formula of 50% for the technical staff, with the alternation of the playing venues ».
As for the under 17 there will be joint training, but each team will have its own team registered.
In the meantime, the yellow-green senior team will start training again on Tuesday. Gigi Liguori and Gianluca Zanon are confirmed at the helm of the yellow-green.
