SASSARI. After five days, the first escape in the North group of the women’s volleyball team has already started. The protagonist is Garibaldi La Maddalena who, thanks to the clear 3-0 home victory against Silvio Pellico Sassari, confirmed themselves as the lone leaders of the group, with four points ahead of the couple formed by Serramanna, a privateer in just three sets against Porto Torres Volley, and Sanluri, who won only at the tie-break at Sorso’s home.
«But the path is still very long – warns the Garibaldian coach Fabrizio Sarno – and ours is a very young team, apart from two elements it is an under 18, therefore subject to sudden blackouts. So it will be important to stay focused, and make the most of every race. In addition, even winning this first phase does not assign any special advantage, since the first five of our group will pass with the first five of the South group in the promotion pool, and only the first classified of this second phase will go to B2. So we will also have to keep an eye on what is happening there, and this week, for example, the clash at the top between Audax Quartucciu and Selargius 85 has been postponed ».
Coach Sarno is very satisfied: «We are playing really good volleyball, also considering that, due to injuries and various problems, we have never fielded our best team. We are doing a great job on our young people, with many training sessions, and we aim to win the under 18 regional championship, repeating the Sardinian title we won last year in under 17. Then of course, winning the C also interests us, and – he promises – we will try to the end ».
