Good first for Giacomo Scattolon, who closed the debut of the 2022 season at the Rally del Ciocco, with a brilliant sixth place overall. Presented at the start at the wheel of the Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo made available by Erreffe Rally Team and shared with Giovanni Bernacchini, co-driver with whom he will face the entire Italian Rally Promotion championship, the driver from Voghera was the protagonist of a concrete performance, moreover characterized by the fact to be the first opportunity to test the new Pirelli asphalt tires. Scattolon and Bernacchini have been fighting for the top right from the start, as evidenced by the final gap of just 58 seconds after 12 timed tests. «I am satisfied – said Scattolon – we worked well with the team, bearing in mind that those of the Ciocco were the first kilometers on asphalt covered with this car. The roads proved to be difficult to interpret, the pace very high, we are aware that from the next round we will have to be more incisive to get a better position ».

On the same roads debut “with a bang” for Davide Nicelli, who was driving a Renault Clio R5 at Il Ciocco, with Tiziano Pieri at the notes. Starting with number 43, they were the protagonists of an intense and tight race, constantly in the top twenty of the overall standings and at the top of their class, as well as fighting with the best performing Rally 4 cars. In the end, a good 22nd for them. absolute place, seasoned by the category victory: the absolute result, which could have been even better had it not been for a reversal in view of the finish line. «It was an excellent weekend – commented Nicelli – we were able to test our package as best we could and we were happy with the pace and times recorded, dominating our category; I’m sorry for the mistake made in the last corners, luckily we found ourselves back on 4 wheels and thanks to an extraordinary audience we were able to restart. However, this must remind us that due to an oversight you can “throw” away a race or worse still a championship ». –
