Rome, 12 June 2022. Punctual as at every election, even for administrative of 2022 doubts about the disjoint vote. Over 970 Municipalities, including several large cities (Genoa, Palermo, Lucca, Verona, L’Aquila and Rieti), will elect a mayor and a municipal council. The rules on how to vote change depending on how many residents your municipality has: not all voters will therefore be able to take advantage of the split vote. Let’s see how it works.

Up to 15 thousand inhabitants

In municipalities with up to 15,000 inhabitants, a mark can be made on the name of the candidate for mayor or on the mark of the list linked to the candidate for mayor or also on both the candidate for mayor and on the list linked to the same candidate for mayor: in any case, the vote is attributed to both the list of candidate directors that the connected candidate for auditor.

Over 15 thousand inhabitants

There are basically three options:

  • It can draw a single mark on the rectangle bearing the name of a candidate for auditor, ie without marking any list: in this case the vote is attributed only to the chosen candidate for auditor.

  • A sign can be made only on the identification of one of the lists or a sign can be made both on the name of the candidate for statutory auditor and on one of the lists linked to the same candidate for statutory auditor: in both cases, the vote is attributed to both the candidate for statutory auditors and to the linked list.

  • One can express a disjoint voteby drawing a sign on the name of the candidate for statutory auditor and another sign on one of the slates not connected to him: in this case the vote is attributed to both the candidate for statutory auditors and to the unrelated slate.
