Snowboard Halfpipe Skills Competition Produces 4 Gold Medals

On February 17th, the “Fourteenth Winter” snowboarding U-shaped track skills final was held at Zhalantun Jinlongshan Ski Resort. The competition saw the determination of all 4 gold medals, with champions crowned in both the youth and open categories.

Ren Zhongshuo of the Liaoning team and Liu Yibo of the Hebei team emerged as the champions in the men’s and women’s groups of the youth category. In the open category, Cai Xuetong, Liu Jiayu, Wang Ziyang, and Zhang Yiwei were among the notable competitors vying for the gold. Cai Xuetong, the “veteran of four dynasties of Winter Olympics” from the Heilongjiang team, clinched the gold medal with a score of 85.75 points. Liu Jiayu, her teammate, secured the silver medal, while Qiu Leng of the Sichuan team claimed the bronze.

The competition for the bronze medal in the men’s open group was intense, with Wang Ziyang of the Beijing team ultimately emerging victorious with a score of 94.25. Zhang Yiwei and Gu Ao of the Liaoning team took home the bronze medals.

Following the event, the medalists expressed optimism about the future of Chinese snowboarding. In particular, Liu Jiayu voiced her hopes of competing in another Winter Olympics alongside Cai Xuetong. Zhang Yiwei, who is already involved in training young talents, is focused on nurturing future talents for Chinese snowboarding.

The “Fourteenth Winter” snowboarding U-shaped track skills final showcased the impressive talent and competitive spirit of Chinese snowboarders, highlighting the promising future of the sport in the country.
