St. Veit has the better of Villach: Udinese returns to Austria

by admin

After the compulsory forfeit of 2020, summer retreat abroad from 18 July to 1 August. A couple of friendlies are scheduled, between the possible opponents Trabzonspor and Ajax

UDINE. Udinese will return to Austria to play the central phase of their summer training and will do so once again in Sankt Veit, very presumably from Sunday 18 July to Sunday 1 August, subject to changes in the last hour.

This time the official information on the headquarters and the dates of the withdrawal came directly from Carinthia advertising, or the Carinthian tourism board that yesterday also confirmed Udinese among the many teams that have chosen Austria for a period of preparation between June and August.

The institution works in close collaboration with the Slfc of the former footballer Hannes Empl, an agency “colossus” that has brought over one hundred professional teams to Austria in recent years and which on average guarantees the hotel sector 30,000 nights in total reserved for only club, including players, staff and support personnel.

The detail is relevant for two reasons, starting with the four-year contract with the Slfc agency that Udinese signed in 2017, or since it first climbed into retreat at Sankt Veit, which leads straight to why of the “new” Austrian choice, given that the contract was honored after the impossibility of doing so last year, when the championship ended in early August and the situation then linked to Covid led to the renunciation of the foreign choice.

Covid problems that have affected even now, because the Empl agency, always in close collaboration with the tourist board, had to guarantee Udinese a structure at the complete disposal of the club, with at least 60 single rooms, and other criteria “to be protocol ”, always in strict compliance with the provisions which obviously do not fail depending on the rate of contagion.

For this reason, exclusively logistical, Udinese was at stake until the last moment between the retreat in Sankt Veit (175 kilometers from Udine) and that of the nearest Villach, which undoubtedly would have made less way for the Friulian fans who want follow the team across the border, with a Green pass, test or certificate of healing, which gives the authorities the right to enter Austria without further need to bring a negative test. For this reason, the SLFC is also working on friendlies, with Trabzonspor and Ajax as possible opponents.

Before crossing the border, however, Udinese will begin training at Bruseschi. The first day of the meeting, between medical examinations and athletic tests, is scheduled for Wednesday 7 July and not Monday 5 as the company had originally predicted. The tests will last until 9, with group training scheduled from Monday 12.
