Last Saturday 22 January there was another good performance by the Canavese athlete Chiara Giovando (registered for the Pegarun of Bergamo): she finished second in Lombardy, in Val Camonica, in the first stage of the Crazy skysnow Italy cup circuit: la Paradiso skysnow. Race with crampons of 4.5 kilometers with 970 meters of altitude difference, which was organized by the Italian Skyrunning federation.
The Canavesana, thanks to this result at Tonale and also for the victory last week in Albenga at the Gallinara trail, will probably be convened by the Italian Skyrunning Federation for the first Skysnow world championships, the race on the snow with crampons, which will take place on February 4th and 5th in Spain. In 2021 Giovando participated with the national team in the world championships, also in Spain, where she finished sixth in the women’s field.
Giovando, who finished 16th overall, took 49 ’47 ”. The first woman, Martina Cumerlato (Gefo), ran 47 ’33 “, third step of the podium for Fabiola Conti (Runaway) at 40” from Giovando. The race was won by Lorenzo Rota Martir in 40’23 ”. Last Saturday was the first of six races, all on snow, which make up the circuit and which will touch various provinces of Northern Italy. The next stop will be the Skysnow Schia Monte Caio (Parma) on February 19th, followed by the Gressoney Weissrunner, the Skysnow Eagle race, the Cervinia snow run and the Skynow Sella Nevea. –
