The one of Giannis Antetokounmpo is, to all intents and purposes, a cinematic story. Born in Athens to Nigerian immigrants, he had to wait until he was 18 – when he had already become a star in anticipation of the NBA Draft – to receive Greek citizenship, emerging from a difficult family and economic situation. In 2013 he moved from the Greek second division directly to the NBA with the Milwaukee Buckswho invested the 13th overall pick in the Draft on him: never was a more appropriate choice, because in the last decade Antetokounmpo has become a global superstar, as well as the league MVP in 2019 and 2020 while winning the first title of his career in 2021with an unforgettable 50-point game-6 to bring the title back to Wisconsin after 50 years.
