The arrival of De Marchi in Buja and the embrace with his family: the breaking latest news of the nineteenth stage in Fvg

Among the locations – so different – kissed by the passage of the 19th stage of the Giro d’Italia 2022 there is a common denominator, and one word is enough to tell it: fibrillation. From the lagoon of Marano, the starting point, to the sanctuary of Castelmonte, the finish line at high altitude, the atmosphere overflows with enthusiasm and expectations.

It is the magic of the event, that unparalleled “charge” that is repeated from year to year, replicating itself in the scenarios of the moment with intensity inversely proportional to the size of the inhabited areas: the more the lucky ones of the year are small, the more the waiting and participation they become intense, stimulating collective efforts that are often enormous (sometimes even moving) to capture the attention of the boot and the world in moments of international visibility.

Here are all the updates of the nineteenth stage

PATH

It is a stage divided substantially in half. The first 70 kilometers are flat, then you go up to the third category of Villanova Grotte, prelude to the grand finale. You climb the Tanamea Pass, which marks the border with Slovenia, which is followed by a stretch of salts and scents to take the Kolovrat, an ascent of 10 kilometers at 9% and a maximum of 15%. At the top, there will be 40 kilometers to go to the finish line, we return to Italy with a descent of about 25 kilometers to arrive at the flying finish line in Cividale del Friuli at kilometer 168. Shortly after we take the final climb which measures 7 kilometers with an average of 7.8% and a maximum of 14%.

THE PLACES OF THE GREAT WAR: DRENCHIA

Theater of bloody battles in the Great War and therefore a highly symbolic place – also because it is inextricably linked to the name of the first Italian fallen, Riccardo Giusto – Passo Solarie, in the Municipality of Drenchia, plays a central role in the Friulian stage and, consequently, in the schedule of initiatives accompanying the Giro.

An event in memory of Giusto welcomed the cyclists, and with the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Alpine Corps. Promoted by the Ana sections of Cividale and Udine, in collaboration with the regional civil protection, the event – which will also record the presence of a picket of honor from the Julia Alpine Brigade – had as an overture, at 11.30, a concert by the Brigade’s fanfare Julia and the sectional fanfare of the Ana Udine, the Filarmonica di Vergnacco. This will be followed by the raising of the flag and a tribute to the memory of the victims of the conflict.

From 12, those present will be able to follow the race on a large screen. An e-bike race is scheduled for around 1 pm, departing from Caporetto, an interlude awaiting the arrival (estimated at around 3.45 pm) of the two-wheeled river of the Giro athletes. It should also be remembered that Passo Solarie was chosen (together with Castelmonte) by the Federation of Fogolars Furlans of Canada to deliver a plaque to the first of the runners, on behalf of the Friulian emigrants.

12.10. IT STARTS FROM MARANO

Thousands gathered in Marano for the start of the nineteenth stage of the Giro. From the early hours of the morning, citizens and many foreign tourists, mostly arriving by bike from the Alpe Adria cycle path, wanted to be present at the start.

Pink balloons, banners and choirs welcomed the cyclists of the pink caravan which moved around 12.10 in the presence of the president of the region, Massimiliano Fedriga, the mayor of Marano, Mauro Popesso and the regional councilor Graziano Pizzimenti.

On the occasion of the arrival of the Giro, the children of the primary schools of Marano were awarded for having made a short film on the subject.

GREETINGS FROM DE MARCHI, OWNER OF THE HOUSE

«Friuli and the Giro d’Italia. Love and hate for me? No, just love! It all started in 2011. Neoprof, the Tour of Contador and Scarponi. There was the arrival on the Kaiser, under an exaggerated deluge, but I was so immersed in my fatigue and in my youth that I did not fully appreciate that day. Everything was new, everything was already too good for him ». So the Rosso di Buja greets the caravan, here the whole interview.
