SARROCH. The first round of the regional meeting reserved for the “Città di Sarroch” cycling youth category took place on Sunday. There were 110 children aged between 5 and 12, who met on the competition fields set up by the Veloclub Sarroch. The first part involved the gymkana, a skill test with a series of artificial obstacles to be overcome in quick succession with possible penalties. The second, called the “sprint skill formula”, consisted in running a straight 80 meters long as quickly as possible. Then we moved on to mountain biking, completely on dirt roads, and finally the points race on the road.
The local formation of Veloclub Sarroch won the team rankings, with 105 points overall. In second place Terranova Olbia with 89, in third the Sc Fausto Coppi Sassari, 87, in fourth the MTB Piscina Irgas of Villacidro, 80, in fifth Il Gruppo Sportivo Pedale Siniscolese 78. Next appointment in September in Sassari with the second test.
