The coordinates of Naples with the flags of Russia and Ukraine, an implicit “invitation” to the military forces at war to bomb the city of Campania: on the web the photo of the banner that the Verona ultras posted in a nearby parking lot has gone viral to the guest sector of the Bentegodi, a few hours from the match between Hellas and the Azzurri.
The banner was signed by the Curva Sud, the heart of the Scaligero supporters divided by a fierce rivalry with the Neapolitans that in the past has often transcended into racist insults. The threatening content and the allusion to war screeches even more in the match in which Hellas launched a solidarity initiative for the Ukrainian people, a gazebo in the parking lot of the stadium to collect long-life food and first aid medicines to be shipped directly to the country invaded by Russia.
In the deluge of comments on social media, that of the Neapolitan writer Maurizio De Giovanni stands out, who on Facebook accused the Veronese ultras of being “always admirably ready to grasp elements of current relevance to renew his profound racist idiocy”.
