Oval tourism filled the hotels and the glance at the imperial forums on a shirt-sleeved Sunday and then again the choruses for the hymns
Stadium
Arriving at the Olympic stadium, you can see the kiosks of scarves, shirts and sandwiches for the fans. Not yet the lines of club buses from half of Italy crowded in the Foro Italico area on the Farnesina side (a glance they were used to before the pandemic) and many kids wearing their team’s jersey and their improvised picnics alongside of open trunks.
With the return of the public albeit at 50% due to the anti Covid regulations, the English fans have seen again after 4 years: white jersey with the Rose on the chest as required, whatever the weather, they crowded the hotels in the center and then they swarmed especially in the area of the Imperial Forums. A very hot morning allowed the replication of a choreography that has been repeated since 2000 to which the British cheer (it also happens with Scots, Welsh and Irish) does not give up. Beers, songs, orderly lines, and then from the center all on foot towards the north with a path as simple as it is obligatory: the left bank of the Tiber taken after Villa Borghese and piazzale Flaminio.
There was no “Terzo Tempo” village waiting for them but the party at the Foro Italico was the same and the entrance, Green pass in hand, formed long but orderly queues of those who have the know how of waiting for one’s turn in the blood. Difficult to quantify, several thousand certainly suggested the white spot on the stands. And then at the time of the anthems there was confirmation: the “God save the Queen” performed by the multi-force band rose from the basin under Monte Mario, so much so that the Italian supporters were in the minority.
Then at the Fratelli d’Italia the greatness was restored and the blue choir was impressive. For March 12 it is hoped to repeat: the capacity limit that will rise to 75%, the attraction for the Scots to experience a “summer” weekend, the possible last match of Sergio Parisse, should push the event to pre pandemics maybe wet from a victory .––
