Ski mountaineering, an official competition event at the first Winter Olympics in 1924, will once again feature in the Winter Olympics starting from the 2026 Milan Games. China has made significant progress in this sport since the early 21st century, participating in various international events and establishing a national ski mountaineering team in 2022.

At the Asian Championships, nearly a hundred athletes from China, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand competed in various events over five days. Chinese athletes Brewer and Cidan Yuzhen stood out, securing multiple gold medals in men’s and women’s vertical racing, individual sprint, and individual cross-country events. Additionally, China’s Ismail Tokhtar Aili clinched the men’s individual sprint championship.

With their impressive performance at the Asian Ski Mountaineering Championships, the Chinese team continues to make strides in this challenging and exhilarating sport, showcasing their talent on the international stage.
