The former football player Desideri on the book by Neggia and Debernardi: “It emanates a magical essence, just as magical was my experience in the Biellese”

Former footballer Davide Desideri, whose career was abruptly interrupted at the age of 32 by a tumor, is among the protagonists of the book “My Biellese in Serie A” by Corrado Neggia and Marco Debernardi and was involved with his association ” Educalciando “in the project entitled” Lucidi fragmenti “. And the former player from Biellese, Bari and Sambenedettese wanted to personally thank the two authors: «When in the spring of 2021 I was contacted by Corrado Neggia to be involved in the novel he was writing about the Biellese, I accepted intrigued. Entering more and more into the publishing project, curiosity made room for the impatience of being able to have the book in your hands and open it. No sooner said than done. Now in leafing through it, I also feel the unmistakable scent of that ink that takes you back to past times, when people still wrote using the inkwell on school desks. Well that book emanates a magical essence, just as my first professional experience was magical, with the Bianconero from Biellese on my skin, colors that today more than ever I feel sewn on. Being also the leading writer of the book “La mia Biellese in Serie A” is a source of pride. And I feel obliged to thank with heart in hand whoever gave me the best assist to give new energy and vigor to my life in a very troubled period. Not only was I involved in this book, even my project, which I will shortly introduce in synthesis, found new ideals and supports in a second publication: “Lucidi fragmenti”, a hymn to poetry, this latter ideal soundtrack to many short significant stories of real life. In favor of sport and also of others. A non-trivial title, which in a certain sense also identifies my life. In life there are people, places and surprises that return at the right time as if everything had a precise meaning, almost predefined without excluding our free will. In these moments we think about the will of God, or about the people who have left us on this earth, but who always occupy an important place within us. I go back to Biella, the city that launched me into professional football, where disputes with teammates and managers have made me what I am today and helped me build an educational / sports project for young players. In Biella I also found close friends, such as Corrado Neggia and his dear father Luigino, to whom the book “Lucidi fragmenti” is dedicated. People like Luigino Neggia and Marco Debernardi (Corrado’s partner in the four-handed production of “Lucidi Fragmenti”) did not miss a game, continuing to support us regardless of the results. These people know how to look beyond the player, who, even though they belong to us, is not the only part of us. Well Corrado and Marco still continue to cheer for me and for my company Educalciando, supporting us concretely with donations that make the difference. No one can be a great project alone, we always need friends and supporters, however good and determined we may be. So I sincerely thank Corrado and Marco, also on behalf of my partners, including the closest presence Francesca Gargano. I also thank Luigino, Corrado’s father, and I add Lorenzo Mazzia to this special list: my captain, the guide who knew how to use carrots and sticks very well with unpredictable and slightly crazy people like me ».

The two authors from Biella were very satisfied: “In receiving the letter from Davide Desideri, we were pleasantly impressed by the will and strength of this player who almost alone raised himself to the top of Italian football, a tenacity that also allowed him to be coached at Bari by Antonio Conte ». Marco Debernardi’s words leave no alternative to the interpretation: «Having met Davide Desideri in person was an absolute pleasure. For a football lover like myself, I compare the sensation I felt to that of when I shook hands for the first time with Fabio Enzo, Natalino Fossati, Silvino Bercellino and many other champions from my Biellese. With this book, doing good is also the best. It is even more so for people like myself and Corrado Neggia, who are staunch supporters of their neighbors, albeit operating in the shadows. What about poems? I’m glad they liked them and continue to create interest. I thought it could be just a passion like many others, instead we are in the second edition and Corrado is stimulating me to get out of my shell. In the drawer I still have a few unpublished ones and for next Christmas we would like to realize something even more sparkling. In the meantime, let’s see what will develop on a national scale ».
