Andrea Pilotti is the winner of the thirtieth Mauro Gorza prize. The captain of the San Giorgio Sedico will be presented with the prestigious award on Friday 10 September in Mugnai, in the municipality of Feltre.

The event, organized by Juventina to commemorate the player of the same name who died thirty years ago following an illness on the pitch, will also postpone this year, as happened last summer, from June to September. In this way, instead of ideally closing the sporting season that is about to end (a season still heavily conditioned by Covid), the new one will open. But the commission, which also met at a distance and in a more informal way, also wanted to do everything to identify a player from Belluno who stood out, both on and off the pitch, for human and sporting values. And the choice, therefore, fell unanimously on the biancorossoceleste attacking midfielder.

“Receiving this award is a source of great pride for me. The Gorza award is an event that I already knew well and I had participated in it, for example, a few years ago, when the then teammate Ivan Longo was awarded. It is a great honor and a great satisfaction to receive this recognition which comes at the end of a demanding season ».

The year just ended was not easy, neither for the company in via Ricolt, nor for its captain, forced to divide himself between work and sport.

«It was certainly difficult to manage to reconcile work commitments with football ones», he acknowledges, «but in the end it was also very satisfying, given the results and satisfactions of this second part of the championship. It was especially difficult from the moment when the change of coach took place because, since then, we have started training practically every day. But, luckily, the season has taken the hoped-for turn and, therefore, we have been rewarded for all the efforts we have had to support ».

The football history of Andrea Pilotti is almost entirely linked to the red and white colors first, then red and white.

«I arrived at San Giorgio when I was only sixteen», Captain Pilotti still remembers, «after an experience outside the province in Conegliano. I have always played here ever since. In fact, this was my eleventh season ».

The names of the winners of the other prizes that are traditionally awarded on the sidelines of the main one will be announced in the coming weeks.

For now, in formalizing the decision to reward Andrea Pilotti, the manager of Juventina Mugnai Maurizio Zatta, who has always been a central figure in the organization of the event, has anticipated the reasons.

“Commitment and dedication, reference for young people and attachment to the jersey”. –
