China News Service, Harbin, February 15 (Reporter Wang Nina) The Heilongjiang Provincial Sports Bureau announced on the 15th that on February 14, the cross-country skiing competition of the 14th National Winter Games started at the Liangcheng Ski Resort in Ulanqab City, Heilongjiang The team won 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals in the double pursuit event on the first day of competition.
The women’s double pursuit (7.5 km traditional technology + 7.5 km free technology) took the lead. Chi Chunxue (Heilongjiang/Guangdong) won the gold medal with a time of 41 minutes and 26 seconds, and Diniger Yilamujiang (Xinjiang/Shanghai) won the silver medal, veteran Li Xin (Heilongjiang/Guangdong) won the bronze medal.
In the men’s double pursuit (15 kilometers traditional technology + 15 kilometers free technology) competition, Wang Qiang (Heilongjiang/Chongqing) won the gold medal, Liu Rongsheng (Yunnan/Jilin) won the silver medal, and Shang Jincai (Heilongjiang/Guangdong) won the bronze medal.
The word “double” in cross-country skiing double pursuit competition does not mean “double”, but refers to two skiing techniques, namely traditional technique and free technique. The two techniques are different in terms of movements, equipment, track, etc. The sliding action of traditional techniques usually involves alternating one step, alternating two steps, and advancing at the same time, with the legs similar to a walking posture. During the competition, athletes slide their skis in the pressed snow trough, use their poles to push and swing their legs forward and back, and keep their skis parallel to the direction of sliding. The free technical movements include the ice step and the figure-eight mountaineering step, that is, the feet are in an outward figure, similar to the skating posture. The free technology can basically be understood as skating however you want. Therefore, the free technique is usually faster and more energy-saving than the traditional technique.
The women’s double pursuit (7.5km traditional technique + 7.5km free technique) competition is to first slide 7.5 kilometers using traditional technique, then quickly switch snowboard equipment in the designated area, and then slide 7.5 kilometers using free technique. The first one to reach the finish line wins. The same competition process, the men’s double pursuit is 15 kilometers of traditional technology + 15 kilometers of free technology. The double pursuit event not only tests the physical fitness of the athletes, but also tests the balanced strength of their two skills.
As of that day, the Heilongjiang delegation had won 33 gold medals, 27 silver medals and 21 bronze medals in the 14th Winter Games.
