The official poster of the Paris Olympics is revealed: “Hidden” 8 mascots

Xinhua News Agency, Paris, March 4 (Reporters Xiao Yazhuo and Qiao Benxiao) – The official posters of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games were unveiled at the Musee d’Orsay on March 4. Created by the renowned French illustrator Ugo Gatoni, these posters mark a significant departure from traditional Olympic poster designs, featuring rich details and innovative elements.

Gatoni, known for his vibrant use of color, envisioned a diverse microcosm on the posters, incorporating iconic elements of Paris and France, all current Olympic and Paralympic sports, as well as unique features of the Paris Olympic Games. Describing his work as a surreal interpretation of reality, Gatoni aimed to capture the essence of a bustling city stadium in his design.

The two posters, representing the Olympics and Paralympics, can be viewed as separate works or combined to form a cohesive image. Gatoni explained, “The Eiffel Tower runs through the middle of the Stade de France, with various Paris landmarks reimagined and intertwined. This design symbolizes the unity of both the Olympics and Paralympics.”

A total of 8 Paris Olympic mascots are “hidden” within the posters, along with other symbolic elements such as the Olympic rings, Paralympic logo, and the Olympic motto. Gatoni mentioned that the creation process for both posters took approximately 2,000 hours, with countless intricate details waiting to be discovered by viewers.

Tony Estanguet, chairman of the Paris Olympic Organizing Committee, expressed his satisfaction with the posters, emphasizing the importance of incorporating diverse elements to make them truly unique. He stated, “We want to be different and include as many elements as possible. This is a new exploration in Olympic history.”
