Styrian Klaus Bachler clinched another podium finish in the American IMSA sports car championship on Sunday. The Styrian and his French colleague Patrick Pilet from Team Pfaff Motorsports achieved third place in Laguna Seca with their Porsche 911 GT3 in the GTD Pro class. Bachler made it to pole position on Saturday on the difficult track. In the overall standings, Bachler/Pilet also occupy third place.
“Laguna Seca is one of the most difficult circuits on the calendar. That’s why I was here for the first time. And getting pole there is of course something very special for me,” said Bachler, for whom it was also his first pole in the IMSA championship. The duo suffered two penalties in the race, so “we can be very happy with the podium,” added the 31-year-old. For Bachler, it was straight on to Germany, where the 24-hour classic at the Nürburgring is scheduled for the coming weekend.
