Both nineteen and belonging to the same club, they are accused of sexual assault. Released on bail pending further investigations
There is another scandal that shocks the Premier. According to the Sun, two 19-year-old players were arrested on Friday 19 April on charges of rape. Both were later released on bail pending further investigations. Neither the Sun nor the other British tabloids mentioned the names of the two, as is customary in these cases. The two players are teammates and would not have been suspended at the moment.
But what happened? The alleged victim reported the incident to the police a few hours later. Officers arrested two men following a rape complaint. A 19-year-old boy was arrested for assault and complicity in rape. A second, also 19 years old, was released on rape charges. Both were released on bail, the police spokesperson told the Sun.
One of the two young players in question would have been reached by investigators in the stadium of the team for which he plays, interrogated first on the spot in the presence of a club employee and then transported to the station. He would spend a night in prison, only to be questioned again by the police and released on bail. Instead, the second young man ended up in handcuffs the next day.
The club told the Sun the matter is now in the hands of the police and we cannot comment further. yet another scandal to hit the Premier League. There is a footballer from a London team who is playing for the second season while under investigation for rape and after being arrested in the summer of 2022. But the most striking case remains that of Mason Greenwood, when he wore the Manchester United shirt – and it was January 2022 – he had been arrested. In the meantime the charges have been dropped and he is now in Spain, on loan at Getafe. Or like Benjamin Mendy, who ended up in prison during his time at Manchester City. Once acquitted he returned to play in France, at Lorient.
