[Epoch Times, February 11, 2022]On Friday (February 11), the 2022 Winter Olympics entered the seventh day and a total of 153 medals were decided, including 51 gold medals, 51 silver medals and 51 bronze medals.
Ranked by the number of gold medals, at present, Norway and Germany are still among the best. Netherlands’ Suzanne Schulting broke the world record in the short track speed skating 1,000m in the women’s quarter-finals and won gold, bringing the Netherlands back to the top three.
On Friday, seven gold medals were decided at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Most of the gold winners came from European countries, namely:
alpine skiing: Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland wins the women’s super-G event;
biathlon: Norway’s Marte Olsbu Røiseland won gold in the women’s 7.5km sprint event;
cross country skiing: Livo Niskanen of Finland wins the men’s 15km (traditional technique);
short track speed skating: Netherlands’ Suzanne Schulting narrowly beat her South Korean rival in the women’s 1,000m to set a world record and retain her title in a dominant fashion;
Steel frame snowmobile: Christopher Grotheer of Germany won his country’s first medal in the men’s event;
snowboard: Japanese player Ayumu Hirano won the gold medal in men’s snowboard U-shaped field skills with a series of difficult moves;
speed skating: Sweden’s Nils van der Poel won the men’s 10,000m gold medal.
