Compared to the other configurations, the care of the R department is noticeable above all in the details. There are numerous aesthetic elements and equipment that characterize the super wagon. Exclusive to the model (but in common with the compact sedan) there are numerous body colors, such as the larger alloy wheels with dedicated design, the four tailpipes (on request in titanium made by Akrapovic), the bumper sporty rear and seat texture with specific integrated headrest. The engine is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol which already finds numerous applications in the Volkswagen galaxy. This is a well-tested and effective project: in this latest update it delivers 320 hp which allows the car to accelerate to 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds. With the dedicated package, the top speed goes from 250 km / h to 270 km / h. 4Motion all-wheel drive and Dsg seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Golf Variant R is equipped with the electronic rear differential and the torque vectoring system, to which electronic chassis adjustment can be added. A component to integrate if you really want to get maximum performance.

The technical contents of the R department have not compromised the versatility and the ability of the model to fulfill the most diverse requests. The Golf Variant R always remains a familiar one, with dynamic qualities and superior driving involvement. At touring speeds, the behavior of the car does not stray from any other Volkswagen; preferring a sporty driving instead, it is possible to achieve not indifferent performances. Volkswagen has announced that orders are officially open in Germany (where it is already available and where this type of car is particularly popular) with a starting price of 51,585 euros. In Italy it is not yet available either in the configurator or in the price list. In our country, generally, solutions such as the Golf Variant R find it difficult to spread also due to fiscal limits. However, his arrival cannot be ruled out starting in 2022.
