#WeAreFamily, when volleyball knows how to include

by admin

«Beautiful, we had a lot of fun». Enthusiasm and a little emotion. These are the feelings that accompanied the boys and girls of the Onlus Cooperative Il Faggio, in yesterday afternoon’s training with the A1 series volleyball players of the Bosca San Bernardo Cuneo. The initiative, an integral part of the welfare and social inclusion project of Cuneo Granda Volley “#WeAreFamily”, presented last spring, aims to initiate a regular physical practice for disabled people aged between 15 and 50, a segment of the population with a small number of practitioners.

After having participated in some matches of the first red and white team such as the service on the field applauding also from the stands, yesterday the group, made up of boys and girls between 20 and 36 years old, arrived at the Palazzetto di San Rocco Castagnaretta as a protagonist going down on the taraflex together with the A1 players. The red and white staff created a series of games that the boys of the Beech were able to play together with the athletes from Cuneo, amidst laughter, fun and chat. A nice moment to live together, in a week leading up to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities scheduled for tomorrow, Friday 3 December.

The welfare and social inclusion project with the A1 girls of Cuneo Granda Volley

The social inclusion project is carried out by the Cuneo Granda Volley companies and by the red and white nursery of the Granda Volley Academy, and at the moment sees as an integral part, in addition to the Onlus Cooperative Il Faggio di Savona, also the Isah Foundation of Imperia and the Cooperative Proposal 80 of Cuneo. «This project was born within a youth context, with a desire to share, covering three different territories – comments Dino Vercelli, Cuneo Granda Volley vice president -. We give the possibility to bring children with disabilities to play sports in gyms. This first outing was the subject of a dedicated study, together with the educators, to do something for these guys, making us get to know the athletes of the first team and to give a joy. A first activity that can mark the beginning of many others ».

Satisfaction also on the part of the Cooperative. “The boys started by coming to see some A1 matches as a service on the sidelines supported by the youth teams, an activity that allowed them to make progress on their autonomy towards the world of sport – says Romina Bracco, manager of sports and rehabilitation activities of the Cooperative Il Beech of Savona -. The guys are excited, they started looking at the results, wondering how it works and wanting to try it too. Yesterday they were part of a training session, trying to understand what it means to play together and how to move. Through sport we try to give areas of well-being and real social integration ». And now there is already a great desire to return to the Palazzetto di Cuneo.
