With Trimi and Gilli two other blue golds in swimming for Italy at the Paralympics

Another day of important medals for the blue colors from the Tokyo Paralympics. The swimmers keep the national colors high. Carlotta Gilli won the gold medal in the 200 medley in the Sm13 category (visually impaired), setting a new world record. The one obtained by the 20-year-old from Moncalieri (Turin) is the fifth medal at these Games. Shortly before Arjola Trimi he obtained the ninth gold and the thirtieth medal for Italy at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, winning in the 100 freestyle swimming category S3. For the 34 year old from Milan this is the second gold after the one won yesterday in the 50 backstroke. Behind the Trimi is silver for the American Leanne Smith, bronze for the Russian Iuliia Shishova.

Also from the pool comes the silver in the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay, 32nd medal for Italy. Azzurri behind Australia who set the new world record, bronze to Ukraine. The silver quartet was made up of Antonio Fantin, Simone Ciulli, Simone Barlaam and Stefano Raimondi.

In the Italian morning two more medals for Italy had arrived, this time bronze, from archery and target shooting. Maria Andrea Virgilio, 24 years old from Trapani, won the bronze medal in archery (compound open), beating the Russian Stepanida Artakhinova by 142-139, while Andrea Liverani won bronze in the 10-meter standing Sh2 mixed rifle. The 31-year-old from Milan finished behind the Swedish Philip Jonsson (gold) and the Slovenian Francek Gorazd Tirsek (silver).
